20 Miles? No Problem!

A few months ago someone gifted me a very nice front suspension mountain bike. PERFECT! Biking was one of the things I wanted to get back into this summer. 🙂 It didn’t take me long to realize that 10 miles were no problem, but 20 miles nearly killed me. While it’s a nice bike, it just isn’t built for long rides on the road. It’s heavy and I have to work extra hard to keep up with the rest of the group. After a while, I can’t even keep up no matter how hard I peddle.

At the end of a recent ride on Martha’s Vineyard, one of the other riders in the group gave me some advice on buying a new bike online. I did some research on the website he recommended and found they had a scratch and dent site. I found the bike I had been looking at for 30% less because it had some scratches on it. So what? I got the bike a couple weeks ago and I have been working on getting it up and running to my liking since then. I’m happy to report that I’m getting so much closer to this goal, and the bike is at least ride-able at this point.

The difference between my new bike and my other bike is night and day! These tires are so NARROW! The bike is so LIGHTWEIGHT! It’s so much easier to ride on pavement, and that’s an understatement. In fact…

20 miles – NO PROBLEM!

The bike still needs some tweaking, but I’m very satisfied with how well it rode on my second trip out with it. In fact, it feels so nice to ride and I feel so FREE while on it. That alone makes the bike worth every penny! Everything else? Well that’s just icing on the cake. On that note, please enjoy some pics from my ride today. 🙂
